I was born and raised in southern Iowa, graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1969. I served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict being honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1974. Returning to Iowa to continue my education, I graduated from Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids, with a double major in 1977. I then moved to Davenport, Iowa, to complete my education with a doctoral degree in chiropractic from Palmer College in 1981. Following my graduation from Palmer, I did an internship in Rockford, Illinois. I established my first practice by 1982 in North Liberty, Iowa. This is where my wife and our children have called home from 1982 to the present. In 1987, I and Dr. Johnson, with two other chiropractors, founded CHCA, the largest multi-doctor chiropractic clinic in the state. I specialize in workman's compensation and personal injury cases. I am certified in
permanent impairment rating, as well as being a fellow of The American Board of Disability Analysis. I am founder and first president of the Johnson County Chiropractic Association, as well as being a member of the Iowa Chiropractic Society and the American Chiropractic Association.

I attended Luther College for one year and graduated from The University of Iowa in 1974 with a B.S. in General Science. I married my wife, Julie, in 1974 and we have three children: Zach, Gabe and Maria. I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, graduated summa cum laude and was salutatorian of my class in December of 1977. I was elected into Pi Tau Delta, the international chiropractic honor society. I began my practice in 1978. Along with Dr. Swope and two other doctors, we started Chiropractic Health Care Associates in 1987. I was a member of the Iowa Chiropractic Society Board of Directors for two terms and was their District President. I am a member of the American Chiropractic Association. I use the Gonstead method primarily, but use Diversified and Activator Methods occasionally. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, watching my children's sports activities, working outside in the yard and garden, and traveling with my family.
